Meet the Trainer
Kristine Adams
I am a certified canine behavior professional whose approach is both holistic and science-based. I believe that a strong foundation in relationship-building and positive, humane methods is the key to a happy and healthy bond between humans and their dogs.
(continued below)
I have been working with dogs professionally since 2006, first as an off-leash group walker in San Francisco and later as a private trainer and behavior consultant. I enjoy problem-solving and developing effective, individualized solutions for challenges such as reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, fear, and anxiety-related behaviors, as well as puppy raising and foundational manners.
I earned my MSc in Clinical Animal Behavior from the University of Edinburgh and my CTC (Certified Trainer and Counselor) from Jean Donaldson’s Academy for Dog Trainers. I hold multiple certifications, including Certified Dog Behavior Consultant, CSAT (Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer), PCBC-A (Professional Canine Behavior Consultant), CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed), and Fear Free Certified Professional (FFCP). I have also completed advanced coursework with Dr. Susan Friedman and Michael Shikashio’s Master Course on Aggression in Dogs.
I currently study with Dr. Kristina Spaulding, specializing in stress and resilience in dogs, and am an ANWI (Associate Nose Work Instructor), working toward full certification in K9 Nose Work®.
As a lifelong learner, I am dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based practice and to helping dogs and their people thrive together.
Just for fun:
Outside of dog training, I spend my time surrounded by too many houseplants and old books, as well as tinkering with medium format photography, and diving into the art of creating tintypes. I call Aberdeen, WA home and if I am not teaching a dance class, I am exploring the coast or having adventures around the Olympic Peninsula.
