Meet the Trainer
Jessie Kasper
Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus board member - 2019-2020, 2023-2025
I was introduced to positive reinforcement and behavior modification during my time as a foster home and board member for Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus and fell in love with the methods. I’ve fostered hundreds of Dobermans and mixed breeds over the last 15 years, as well as being a foster home for cats and other small animals (birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc). From there, I decided to pursue behavior modification professionally.
(continued below)
I place a priority on continuing education by attending conferences and completing specialized courses every year. I am a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants which has a rigorous examination process and is held to the highest standards. My goal is to look at the WHOLE dog, as there is so much more than training that goes into behavior!
I am certified as a Family Dog Mediator which focuses on genetics and applied ethology and allows me to take a collective view of your companion’s behavior. Building a behavior and wellness profile for your dog is furthered by my Pet Nutrition Coach Certification and my CAMadvocate Level 1 certification. I have a keen interest in posture, gait, & mobility, as well as how medical issues influence behavior.
As a Fear Free Certified Professional, my goal is to help increase communication, safety, and trust in your home. All of my sessions are done in the comfort of your home or virtually. I am committed to helping you achieve behavior modification using positive, mindful methods and showing guardians how to help their companions be the best versions of themselves that they can be!
I network locally with many primary care veterinarians, specialty providers, and behavioral veterinarians, as I believe that multidisciplinary teamwork provides for the best outcomes.
But what about the human side of the leash?! I am also an Emotional CPR Certified Practitioner. My goal is to exercise empathy, be an active listener, and create a training plan that fits into your energy level and busy lifestyle. As caregivers and guardians, we wear SO many hats and it can be fatiguing. As a mother, wife, friend, pet guardian, and business owner - I am sensitive to that!
Just for fun
When I am not out and about enriching the lives of companions everywhere, I enjoy gardening and spending time outside on my hammock. I live in St. Charles, IL with my husband, daughter, two dogs, three cats, and a revolving crew of foster dogs. I grew up with Dobermans and have a special place in my heart for power breeds - especially Bully breeds! You can catch me in the summer cruising around in my Bronco with the top down, wind in my hair, and music blasting!
